The Plastic Road Venture

A smarter, more efficient way to road construction.
Our Mission

Our goal at The Plastic Road venture is to grow the understanding and use of plastic roads throughout the United States. Right now millions of pounds of plastic find the ocean every year, with no end in sight. The world needs to find a way to recycle all this plastic, and what better way of doing it then building new roads.

As drivers, we all have dealt with our fair share of road construction closures and delays. So, what if these could be nearly eliminated.

Our venture focuses on implementing new ideas into the road construction industry. For far too long, asphalt and concrete has continued to be the standard. Now, what if we had plastic roads capable of lasting 3x as long, and more resistant to potholes.

The Plastic Road venture places a heavily emphasis on the new way of "installing" roads rather than constructing roads. As a matter of fact, using plastic, modular sections of roadway can be built in factories and installed on site, similar to a prefabricated house, greatly reducing construction times.

Impacts

Our firm focuses on the recovery of plastic from the ocean, and has committed to using 100% recycled material in the construction of our roads. With 11 million tons of plastic entering the ocean every year it is critical to find a way to recover and repurpose all this material. Important to realize, just the new plastic finding the ocean every year is enough to build 21,400 miles of roads. Not to mention, that this is not even accounting for the amount of plastic already deposited in the ocean.

For instance, one of the largest deposits in the ocean today is so large it has it's own name, the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch." Naturally, deposits like this are a big worry as they cause extreme harm to the local ecosystems. To read more about this deposit, visit this article from "The Ocean Cleanup."
